With the 2022 Minor League Player Draft slated to start February 1st at 12:00 AM Eastern time, the MLB lockout ongoing, and Seiya Suzuki as of yet unsigned, we'd like to continue the discussion from main chat about allowing Suzuki to be drafted as an unsigned FA.
Please reply to this thread with your thoughts on the idea, thank you!

Personally, I am fine with having Suzuki be draft eligible this year, should the lockout still be going on at the start of February. It was a good idea, thank you Max and others for bringing it up.

I also really like this idea to keep things going. We need some movement in here.

I agree with the comments made in chat that we should make a one-time exception for Suzuki so that he is eligible for our 2022 draft despite not being signed by an MLB team. Upon being drafted, we'll treat him like any other IFA free agent with a major league contract (e.g., Ha-Seong Kim). If Suzuki does not signed with a team before the start of our 2023 draft, he will go back into the draft pool.
This rule would not impact any other player.
This rule is necessary to have our draft on time and during the lockout, which is preventing Suzuki from signing.
